The UK is undoubtedly facing a homelessness crisis, with the latest government data from 2023-2024 showing an 8% increase in the number of households facing homelessness from the previous year, and a 15.4% increase from the year before.
In England alone, official statistics show that 358,370 households contacted their local authority for support after losing their homes or being threatened with homelessness in 2023-2024, a 10% increase from the year before. Of this number, 324,990 households were assessed as homeless. With a total of 123,100 households living in temporary accommodation in June 2024 (up 16.3% from 2023), the country is facing an unprecedented housing crisis.
Nickolds Property Development are a social housing provider across the South East.
The staggering increase in homeless households comes as a result of social and economic factors, which are making securing or staying in a property increasingly difficult for many. Private rents reaching record-high rates, inadequate housing benefits, rising evictions, and a lack of affordable social housing are all major contributors to the rise of homelessness.
Nickolds Property Management is dedicated to finding a solution to help reduce homelessness across the country. The social housing company offers emergency housing, including Houses of Multiple Occupation (HMOs), to vulnerable individuals across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, and Essex. Nickolds has been
working alongside local councils, authorities, and communities to help end homelessness, including working with private landlords to provide secure, safe and affordable housing to those in need.
Nickolds are committed to decreasing homelessness across the UK.
Nickolds Property Management is dedicated to providing inclusive accommodation for individuals in need, including those seeking temporary accommodation, mothers and babies, disabled individuals, and the homeless.
